The War Memorial in the Park was unveiled on the 11th November. 1922 and the Club was given complete control of marshalling and parading arrangements, and afterwards was allotted the care of the Memorial and the surrounding flower beds. Soon was to end the year I922. With optimism and Hope for the Future. The year 1923 brought increased membership and increased activities. By July there were 233 paid up Members, and 21 Associate Members a total of 254. The Town Hall War Shrine was dismantled and the list of names deposited in the Council Archives. During the year also had been formed the Herne Bay Ex-Service Football Club, with “Old Ted” as its Secretary, with its ground at the then Kent Coast College, and drew the largest crowds in the District. The Football Club
and its followers enthused the Club with life and the Club's Membership grew. The Club was very much Alive. By the beginning of 1924, it proved necessary to appoint Mr. Griffiths as a part time paid Secretary.
He survived about a year and then Capt. Coulson was appointed Secretary and it was he who was the executive officer during negotiations for the purchase of and move to William Street in 1926. The years 1923, 1924 and 1925 firmly established the Club and its status in the Town. The first Annual Dinner was held at the Connaught Hotel in January 1923. The Football Club gave fresh vigour, and the first Armistice Service was held in the Pier Pavilion, organised entirely by the Club; and the Clergy agreed that after deferring expenses the collection should go to the Emergency Distress Fund. In 1924. The Bulldog Club Badges were on sale, and Club Members were busily engaged apart from indoor and outdoor sports in the care of the Memorial.Then there were the Club's Winter Series of Concerts in the King's Hall to raise money for a more adequate Club Building. Armistice Service, 1924. Was a very memorable one, for the Rev. Pritchard - after a most earnest Address collapsed and died on the platform of the Pier Pavilion.
